Fly By Wire

A paper plane, a browser and your phone as the joystick.

Play now

Fly By Wire is a 3D flying game that runs in any browser. A paper airplane glides through the clouds while you steer it around obstacles. Your score is the distance you fly, and the game keeps getting faster the longer you last.

Three ways to fly

  • Phone as controller. The big screen (laptop, TV or projector) shows a QR code. Scan it, hold your phone flat like a paper airplane and tilt it to steer.
  • Solo. The device running the game uses its own tilt sensors, so no second screen is needed.
  • Body (beta). A webcam tracks you and your outstretched arms become the wings. Tilt them to bank, raise or lower them to climb or dive, and clap overhead to boost.

Built for events

Kiosk mode runs a hands-free booth with an attract screen. After each run, a QR code lets players put their name on the event’s leaderboard and share their score.

Under the hood

TypeScript throughout: Vite and Three.js in the browser, MediaPipe for pose tracking, and a small Node server (Express plus WebSockets) that pairs phones with screens and stores the leaderboards. No app, no controller, just a browser.
